Today April 29 is national holiday Emperor Showa birthday.

But Japanese must stay home to avoid Corona virus infection.

So today is not fun day because of Corona.

Emperor Showa is a grand son of Emperor Meiji who saved Turkey wrecked ship.

Emperor Reiwa is a grand son of Emperor Showa .

Emperor Naruhito birthday February 23 is a national holiday.

February 23 2020 is Sunday, so next Monday is a national holiday.

Emperor is 60 years old.

Princess Aiko's birthday is December 1.

She was born in  December 1 2001.

Her father is Emperor Naruhito and her mother is Empress Masako.

She might be next Queen.

Japanese Emperor is male, but Emperor's child is only Princess Aiko.

So Japanese government has discussed if Princess Aiko would be Queen.

In the past Imperial family history, some Queens exist.

On April 30 2019, "Heisei" Emperor Akihito resigned from his throne.
On May 1 2019, Prince Naruhito succeeded the throne and became 126th Emperor of Japan.
The new Emperor was born in February 23 1960 (59 years old). He is called as "Reiwa" Emperor.

"Reiwa" is the name of new Emperor's era.
Prince Naruhito succeeds Heisei Emperor's throne.
As of May 1st, prince Naruhito will become new Emperor.

Reiwa derives from Japanese ancient document "Manyoshu".
Beautiful moon and plum blossoms lead to peace.
This old episode is the origin of new era name "Reiwa".

All Japanese welcome the new era.
Until April 30, the name of era is "Heisei".

Nobel prize winner Shinya Yamanaka is invited as an advisor.
